ABOUT US

Here you can find "family" in which you can grow stronger in your own faith, wiser in your relationships with others, and stronger in your relationship with God.  We are a caring people who really value you.  Christ is the foundation of our Church family.  Prayer is our pathway to God's greatest blessings.  The Bible is our guide.   And the Holy Spirit is our inspiration, strength, and joy.  We are a multi-cultural, multi-generational, loving family of Christ with whom you can find a Church home.  We ask God's blessings and care for those in our community, especially for you and those you love.

OUR MISSION

The mission of Faith Presbyterian Church is “to know Christ and make Him Known.”

To live out this mission we are a family of faith where people can connect with God, worship, build a strong faith, discover new Christian friends in our Church family, and live out the Great Commandments in Matthew 22:37-39

(37“ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’) and the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20  ("19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”)

OUR MISSION
BELIEFS

Faith Presbyterian Church has definite beliefs, drawn directly from the Word of God, which are stated clearly.

It holds the common Christian Faith, and cooperates with other Christian people.

Some of its important beliefs are summarized below:

 1. GOD

God, the creator of heaven and earth (Genesis 1:1), is Sovereign Lord of the universe (Daniel 4:35).  He has revealed himself partially through nature and fully in the Bible.  His supreme revelation of himself is in Jesus Christ.

God is righteous in all his ways, loving in all his dealings. (2 Peter 3:9).

2. MAN

Man is a sinner, unable to save himself, and therefore needs a Savior. (Genesis 6:5-6; Romans 3:19-23; Romans 6:23a).

3. CHRIST

God out of his great love provided a Savior.  (John 3:16-17).  This one and only Savior is the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, born of a woman, and is therefore God and man, and as such is able to make reconciliation between God and man.  (Romans 3:24-26).

4. SALVATION

For our sin Christ died on the cross, taking upon himself our guilt and the penalty of sin

that we might be forgiven and set free. (Romans 5:8; Romans 8:1).

5. FAITH

Salvation comes to us only through our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

(Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12; John 3:14-15; Acts 16:30-31; Hebrews 7:25).

6. REPENTANCE

Repentance from sin, which is more than sorrow for sin, is a turning away from sin unto newness of life in Christ.

(Mark 1:14-15; Acts 2:37-38; Matthew 3:8).

7. THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit leads to conviction of sin, to repentance and faith, and to a desire for a new life, and so brings about the new birth without which no man can enter the Kingdom of Heaven; and he enables us to die more and more unto sin and to live more and more unto righteousness. (John 3:3-8; John 16:7-13).

8. THE BIBLE

The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God.  (2 Peter 1:19-21; 2 Timothy 3:16).

9. THE ORGANIZED CHURCH

The organized Church is a divine institution for the worship of God, and propagation of the faith, and the mutual comfort and strength of those who believe.  (Matthew 16:16-18; Ephesians 5:23-27).

10. THE SACRAMENTS

There are only two holy ordinances instituted by Christ, wherein by outward signs, inward spiritual meanings and graces are conveyed to sincere participants – worthy receivers.

A. Baptism.  Water baptism, a symbol of spiritual baptism, is the rite of entrance into the church; to be administered to all who believe in Christ and to their children as a token that they are members of the household of God.

(Acts 16:14-15; Ephesians 6:4; Acts 16:32-33).

B. The Lord’s Supper.  This is a memorial of Christ’ life and death and coming again.  (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

11. A PUBLIC CONFESSION OF CHRIST AS SAVIOR

A public confession of Christ as Savior is made by joining the church.  (Matthew 10:32).

12. THE LORD’S DAY

The first day of the week is the Christian Sabbath for public worship.  After the resurrection of Christ the disciples

met for prayers and worship on the first day of the week. (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; John 20:19-26).

13. CHRISTIAN RESPONSIBILITY OF WITNESSING FOR CHRIST

A Christian has the responsibility of witnessing for Christ, and so helping to build up a human society

permeated by the spirit of Christ.  (Acts 1:8; John 1:34-42; 2 Corinthians 3:2,3).

14. THE BODILY RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

The resurrection of Christ was a bodily resurrection. There will also be a bodily resurrection

of all people and recognition in the life to come.  (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4, 20-23; John 14:1-3).

15. THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

The second coming of Christ will be personal and glorious.  It is ours to watch and work and be ready when he comes.  (Matthew 24:42-44).

16. THE FINAL JUDGMENT

There will be a final judgment with Christ as the Judge; and there will be eternal blessedness for all those who in this life accept Jesus Christ as Savior and seek to follow him as their Lord.

(Acts 10:42; Hebrews 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10).

OUR PASTOR
SESSION

The Session is the assembly of Elders who are responsible for leading and caring for the Church.  The Pastor as the "Teaching Elder" is the moderator of the Session and the "Ruling Elders" are organized with a Clerk of Session, the Church Treasurer, and Leadership/Ministry Division Teams which are Worship, Nurture, Mission/Outreach, and Support.

As the Session provides the leadership, service, and ministries through the Division Teams, the members, and friends of the Church can serve with them in any of these important aspects of Church life.  We encourage all members to be involved and to serve on a Division Team.  If you are interested, speak to the Pastor or an Elder and use your gifts; whatever they are, to glorify God, strengthen the joy, and faith of the Christians in our Church or reach out to those around us with the Good News of Christ in word and deed, through evangelism and acts of kindness.

Elders are elected by the congregation to serve 3 year terms on the Session.

CHURCH & CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Very often a visitor at Faith Presbyterian Church will ask, "what do you believe about the Church?  How do I join the church?"  The Church is like a diamond given in love having many different facets that make it beautiful and precious.  Some of these facets are:

1.  Jesus Christ is the head of the Church.  The Church belongs to Him, and God has chosen to glorify Himself though the Church by the great power and love of Christ.  (Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:20-21).

2.  The Church is the people who love Jesus Christ, the people in whose heart Christ lives.  (John 14:23; Revelation 3:20).

3.  Jesus Christ loves the Church and gave Himself for Her to present her to Himself.  (Ephesians 5:25-27).

4.  The Bible, God's inspired Word, is the written authority for the Church.  (II Timothy 3:16).

5.  The message of the Church is the Good News of Jesus Christ expressed in Word and Deed, what we say and what we do.  (I John 3:18; I Corinthians 15:1-4).

6.  Christians are automatically a part of the Church through faith in Jesus Christ, and every Christian needs to identify with other Christians by joining a local Church for worship, fellowship, service, mutual encouragement and support.  (Hebrews 10:23-25).

7.  Those joining the Church are asked to ascribe to the core values of the Christian Faith that we observe at Faith Presbyterian:

     a.  Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving God's displeasure, and without hope except in God's sovereign mercy?

     b.  Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and depend upon Christ alone for your salvation as offered in the gospel?

     c.  Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomes the followers of Christ?

     d.  Do you promise to serve Christ in the church by supporting and participating in its service to God and its ministry to others to the best of your ability?

     e.  Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the Church and promise to further its purity and peace?

     f.  Do you hold the Scriptures to be the Word of God the only infallible rule of faith and practice?

     g.  Will you witness for Christ by Your life and words?

Your affiliation with a local Church is a very important decision, and our prayer is that God would guide you to become active in a local Church family where Christ is preached, the Bible is honored, and you and your family are loved, and you can find the grace and activities for greater spiritual growth and strength in Christ.
